Update on Oreo

I have an update for Oreo.  I noticed today that Oreo has black feathers that his body and head have a green sheen to them.  I also noticed that his wings have a blue, purple, and second color green sheen to them as well.

This is a yellow duck that will be white but he only one that has a big puff on his head.  He is so cute.

Updates!

Well lets start with this the beauty of Arkansas.  This was taken last night 1/18/2012.  I couldn't help but take it I was taken by it.
This is one of 2 of our Barred Rocks.  She is at the top of this blog.  The picture at the top is her before she was laying and this is her now laying a beautiful egg everyday.
These 2 I have named Sonny and Cher.  Because all they got is each other.  I see them right now and think of the song I got you babe.  Sonny is nice and white and clean now.  he has a bath every morning now and so does Cher.  On Cher you can actually see the green sheen she has on her wings.  There wings are growing out now so you really can't see the feather that have been cut to much.
I put the baby out here this morning since it is about 60 degrees today.  The others were eating so they didn't pick on him to much he just kind of joined the group.  Baby should be a girl.
This is Puff Puff.  Puff puff was stolen the night before last, it really hurt my sons feelings and no it is not an animal it is a person they tore up the door that was shut and nailed shut.  She is starting to get head feathers on her face so she looks a little crappy.  We love her any way.  Can't wait to see what she looks like when she gets all feathered.  I know she will look like the other ducks that the eggs came from but it is different when you watch them grow up and see the ugly and then the pretty.
Here is Oreo all grown up, all feathered out.  He has a green and blue sheen on his feathers.  His tail hasn't curled yet but that should happen soon.  He should be a man in  March or April.  We still have This duck.
This is Puff Puff again and her back.  You can see where she still has to get her feathers.
This is Puff Puff and Daisy Duck.  We were calling her Donald because I thought she was a he, but he is really a she.  She is no longer yellow she is White, well an off white.  We still have Daisy the white one in the picture the blue Puff Puff was stolen.
Oreo with Baby.  I think they found a worm.

 Puff eating lunch.
Here is Molly back home and I think pregnant.  She is acting totally different since we brought her home.  I am hoping she is pregnant.

DuckNapping part 2

Well we haven't caught whoever is doing the napping of the ducks but I promise that they will have an enlightenment when they do.  I have 2 more ducks I will post pictures in a couple days because I have another hatching out and want to post them all at once.  I got a little yellow one that will be white but it has a very big puff on his head.  I also got another blue that hatched out but i would really like to have Crook Shank, Freckles and Baby back.  I have Oreo, Daisy duck, and Puff Puff, left.  i am not sure what to name the two new ones or the other one yet.  I also have a couple of chicks hatching out to so in a couple day I will have a bunch of pictures to post.

DuckNapping!!!!

Well I have had someone take my ducks right out of my hen house.  No it is not an animal like some may think.  I found a piece of clothing this morning that definitely was not there last night and it doesn't belong to anyone in my house.  Three nights ago I lost 2 ducks and last night I lost 1.

Freckles and Crook Shank were the first two that came up missing three nights ago.

Baby is the 1 that come up missing last night.

Now this is how we know it is a person.  Besides the cloth, the ducks were under a milk crate in side one of those dog houses that you can take the top off of.  I put hay in the bottom of the dog house put the ducks in and put the milk crate over them and put the top to the dog house back on the bottom enclosing the ducks in basically 2 cages.  There is no holes under the fence, in the fence, or over the fence.  Yes we have mesh over the run of the chicken coop.  No holes in the chicken coop either.  The gate has never been left open, the latch is always locked.  None of my chickens have stopped laying eggs, there has never been any ruckus in the coop at night.  If it was an animal wouldn't they take the ducks on the floor in the open not in the cage, or the chickens on the roost instead of the ducks in the cages?  We will see I am leaving the booby traps in the coop and the run until I catch whoever is doing this.  My kids are basically being torchered because their ducks are coming up missing.  We never had a problem when our chickens were little why the ducks?

2012

Well it is 2012 and the world is still in motion and nothing exploded, so I guess the world will not be ending just yet.  I had a duck hatch last night and one die half way out.  I have a chick hatching now and a chick going to hatch and 3 ducks due on the 4th.  I still have my New Years Resolution list and I have added to the list.  Like I said I only do a bunch of little things and maybe one big thing this year.  I hope but I am not counting on it.

Well I have a new Years Resolution list.
1.  Out of all the chickens that I hatch out I am only keeping the Buff Orpingtons, that way all I will have is Buff Orpingtons, Silkies, Blue, Black, Splash Orpingtons, and Maybe some easter eggers or Americana's.
2.  Make a pen for the silkies and Blue, black, Splash Orpintons.
3.  Hatch Turkeys out with a few chickens.
4. Loss weight, at least 10 pounds.
5.  Have a beautiful garden.
6.  Save money on raising our animals to eat.
7.  Breed the goat and sell the babies.
8.  Get the kids to the fair to show their chickens.
9.  Less fights with husband.
10.  Try and make money on selling some Muscovy ducks, chicks, Swedish ducks.
11.  Have everyone in the house eat healthier.
12.  Start saving to take a vacation, and make sure all the bills are paid up.
13.  Don't hatch anything out for 2013 until December.
14.  Don't loan money to anyone (we did this year and they never paid it back)
15.  Keep house cleaner, and laundry done.
16.  Keep yard clean.
17.  Spend more time with family.
18.  Keep desk and my room clean.
19.  Write more letters to brother-in-law, and maybe get a pen pal.

I think that is it for now.  I dropped the goat off this morning so she is being bred.  We should have babies in May.  I got rid of the rabbits today I just can't deal with so many things at once, and I couldn't keep the babies alive.  I have already got the section ready for the new coop all I have to do is put the fence up, and section off half the coop.  That way I can have the Blue, Black, Splash orpingtons can show half a coop and the other half will be the buff orpington, and the Silkie's I know exactally were they are going I just have to get some fence for them I am still a little short on fence.  I am so hoping the rest of the year goes as well or better then today.  Today was great and yesterday was great, just hope it keeps coming.
